  1. You are now ready to sort your notes into groups.
  2. To do this: Hold your whole stack of notes in one hand.
  3. With your free hand, set your first note on your desk.
  4. Hold your 2nd note next to your 1st note.
  5. Read each one, and ask, “Related or unrelated?”
  6. If the two notes are unrelated, set the notes next to each other on your desk.
  7. Hold the 3rd note next to the 1st note.
  8. Ask, “Related or unrelated?”
  9. Then hold it next to the 2nd note.
  10. Again ask, “Related or unrelated?”
  11. If notes are related, print their related TOPIC on the TOPIC line of one card, and print that TOPIC's initial on the TOPIC line of the other card.
