Plan Sentence Patterns - Explanation

Level 3:

  • When we write reports from our notes, we easily fall into a monotonous pattern.
  • We read our note cards from top to bottom, and we write sentences in that same top-to-bottom order.
  • We need some sentences that will have varied patterns.
  • This step helps us to plan some sentences that will not be in a top-to-bottom, 1-2-3-4 pattern.
  • For variety, a few sentences will be in an out-of-order pattern.
  • Some sentences might be in a 4-1-2-3 pattern; others might be 4-3-1-2; and a few might be in a 2-1 pattern.
  • In this step we choose 4 or 5 sentences that we will vary so we can break the monotony of our 1-2-3-4 writing patterns.
