  1. Read one note at a time and add the question, Like or Unlike What?
  2. You will usually think of no comparison, but when you do think of a like/different comparison, mark a large X on the notecard, after Like or Unlike What?
  3. After you mark a large X on a note, set that card aside.
  4. Make a stack of all your cards that have a large X after Like or Unlike What?.
  5. In the next step you will choose a few like/unlike comparisons, and you will write them on your note cards.
  6. Your likenesses / differences: • must make sense    • must be true    • must not be silly.
