- As we read and take notes about our subjects, our vocabularies and understandings grow.
 - When we write reports of all we have learned, we must consider that our readers might not have our developed vocabularies.
 - We ask the question: A DEFINITION?
 - If we decide to include the definition, we mark a large X next to the Definition question.
 - We read each note and examine it for words and phrases that our readers might not know.
 - Then we choose 2, 3, or 4 DEFINITIONS by circling the word DEFINITION.
 - We turn the card over and write the word and definition along the bottom of the card.
 - When we write our reports, the circled DEFINITION will remind us to include the DEFINITION on the back.
